Privacy & CIPA notice

Reformed Heritage Academy (“RHA”) provides online courses for students and families. This notice explains how we handle information on our website and learning platform, and how we support student safety expectations related to the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
How CIPA duties are split
CIPA compliance for E-rate discounts is primarily the responsibility of the school or library that receives those discounts. Under FCC and USAC rules, that means adopting an internet safety policy (with public notice and a hearing), deploying a technology protection measure (content filter) that blocks obscene material, child pornography, and content harmful to minors, monitoring minors’ online activities, and educating students about appropriate online behavior.
RHA does not replace school network filtering. We design the platform so private class materials, Zoom links, and student data stay behind authenticated enrollment; we record attendance when classes are started or joined through the app; and we require a digital-citizenship acknowledgment for students when configured. Partner schools remain responsible for device/network filters and their own CIPA certifications.
What we collect
- Account details you provide (name, email, password credentials managed securely).
- Optional date of birth when needed for age-appropriate digital-citizenship requirements.
- Enrollment, attendance, and class participation records needed to run courses (also used as monitoring evidence for instructional oversight).
- Session cookies used to keep you signed in and protect account access.
- Optional profile information (photo, bio, credentials) that you or staff choose to publish.
- Technical logs necessary for security, reliability, and Zoom class operations.
How we use information
- To authenticate users and deliver course content and live classes.
- To communicate about enrollment, schedules, and recordings.
- To support teachers and administrators in roster, attendance, and instructional duties.
- To maintain the integrity and security of the platform.
CIPA-aligned platform practices
- Access to instructional tools is account-based; public marketing pages do not expose private class materials, Zoom links, or student data.
- Live sessions and enrolled materials are restricted to authorized students, teachers, and administrators.
- Public promotional embeds are limited to allowlisted hosts (YouTube by default).
- We do not sell student personal information. Marketing opt-in is separate from required instructional communications.
- Families and schools remain responsible for device-level filtering and supervision consistent with their own CIPA policies when required.
Related laws
Schools that share education records with RHA typically rely on FERPA’s “school official” framework and remain accountable for those records. Where children under 13 use online services, COPPA parental/school consent rules may also apply. Those frameworks are related to, but distinct from, CIPA.

Essential cookies authenticate your session. We also store a local acknowledgment of this privacy notice (so the banner does not reappear on every visit after you accept). We do not use that acknowledgment for advertising.
